1969 Alfa Romeo 1750GTV
Perhaps the perfect Alfa 105 coupe, the 1969 1750GTV features much of the charm of the early “Scalino” coupes (small tail lamps, smooth bodywork, simple trim, etc), but for the 1969 model year, the 1750GTV received a larger 1779cc engine, SPICA mechanical fuel injection, a full interior re-styling featuring “buttress seats”, and a 4-lamp “smooth nose” front end. The chassis received some important structural updates that make these particular cars very robust and practical, they are also a great platform for a performance oriented spec build.
This particular 1969 GTV is a mostly original SoCal survivor car in a very desirable “Dutch Blue” with brown interior. It has been with it’s 2nd owner since the early 1990’s and has been garaged most of it’s life so it has no structural rust. Last June I took it under my wing and performed some overdue service and gave it a full inspection and came to the conclusion that despite needing some major work, it would be an excellent starting point for a full DV restoration since it is so complete, rust free, straight and “honest”. It is currently in storage awaiting a client who would like to start a full mechanical rebuild with a “leave it alone” driver/rally quality exterior OR a full blown high quality restoration or a full DV “Speciale” build.
